The Children’s Bookshow allocates four free workshops for schools who attend a related theatre performance.

Get creative with Benji Davies, award winning author of picture books including The Storm Whale and Grandad’s Island! Benji will visit your school and work creatively with one class encouraging your children to read, write and draw!

About Benji Davies

Benji Davies is an illustrator, author and animation director. His first self-penned picture book The Storm Whale won the inaugural Oscar’s Book Prize and was Dutch Picture Book Of The Year 2017. His second, Grandad’s Island, won the children’s book category of the AOI World Illustration Awards 2015 and was crowned Best Picture Book and overall Children’s Book of the Year at the Sainsbury’s Children’s Book Awards 2015. His books have been translated into over thirty languages around the world.

On the day

  • Please inform your school receptionist that our artist will be arriving so they can be welcomed warmly.
  • A teacher must be present throughout the workshop.
  • Make sure that all the materials that our artist has requested are ready and available.
  • Please let us know if any of the children have particular requirements, and ensure that their normal carer is present.
  • The offer of a cup of tea is often greatly appreciated!
