This year's Judge

We’ve asked writer and illustrator Neal Layton whose inspirational picture book The Tree teaches us about the importance of preserving our environment and our wildlife to judge our competition.

More about Neal Layton

What do I have to do?

What Neal would like you to do is to write a story and illustrate it too with drawings made with coloured pencils, crayons, paint, felt tips, whatever you have to hand. The story could illustrate the beauty of our natural world, and the birds, fish, animals and insects which live in it. If it could show why we need to protect our world, and how we might do that, so much the better, but it’s all up to you. Write about what you know and love about nature.
