Matt de la Peña Workshop
The Children’s Bookshow allocates four free workshops for schools who attend a related theatre performance.

Matt de la Peña has lots of experience working with children in schools. This workshop will be fun and interactive and will be a great opportunity for children to work with a real author in their classroom.

The children got their books today - they were so excited, we put in the book plates that you gave us, the children even took the books outside during playtime today to share the poems with their friends!!

About Matt de la Peña
Matt de la Peña is a New York Times Bestselling, Newbery Medal-winning author. In 2016 he was awarded the NCTE Intellectual Freedom Award. Matt received his MFA in creative writing from San Diego State University and his BA from the University of the Pacific where he attended school on a full basketball scholarship. In 2019 Matt was awarded an honorary doctorate from UOP. He lives in San Diego with his family.
On the day
- Please inform your school receptionist that our artist will be arriving so they can be welcomed warmly.
- A teacher must be present throughout the workshop.
- Make sure that all the materials that our artist has requested are ready and available.
- Please let us know if any of the children have particular requirements, and ensure that their normal carer is present.
- The offer of a cup of tea is often greatly appreciated!
