SF Said performance

How did it go?

We welcomed a full audience to Wakefield Theatre Royal for a special event with award-winning author SF Said for local primary school children.

The children were eager to discover more about SF’s life as a writer and the inspiration behind his much-loved books. He shared the fascinating story of his journey to publication, revealing that his debut novel, Varjak Paw, took five years and 17 drafts to complete before it was finally published. The book went on to win the prestigious Nestlé Smarties Prize, showing the children that becoming a published author takes patience, perseverance and plenty of hard work.

The audience was treated to readings from SF’s latest book, Tyger, which every child received a free copy of to take home and enjoy. The children also had the opportunity to ask SF their own questions, sparking a lively discussion and giving them a sneak peek at the new book he is currently writing, featuring a lion cub!

The excitement continued long after the event, as one school shared this lovely feedback with us:

“We have just arrived back from the audience with SF Said and the children have loved it. I have never heard such a quiet coach on the way back as they all had their heads stuck in their new copies of Tyger! A huge thank you for the opportunity offered by The Children’s Bookshow for this.”

It was wonderful to see so many children captivated by SF’s storytelling and leaving inspired to dive into their new books. A huge thank you to SF Said, Wakefield Theatre Royal and all the schools who joined us for such a memorable event!

SF Said Workshop

In this lively and interactive workshop, author SF Said will come to your school to work with a class of children and help them develop their own creative writing skills.
