Our Competition Judge, Yasmeen Ismail
Writer and illustrator, Yasmeen Ismail, whose books include Time for Bed, Fred, and Would You Like A Banana will be waiting to judge your entries!
What do I have to do?
Owen Sheers, in his picture book Drew, Moo and Bunny, Too tells the story of a small boy’s magical journey on a flying carpet with his best friends Bunny and Moo to see beautiful things in the natural world, like a whale’s moonlit waterspout, or a sleeping tiger.
What we would like you to do is to draw a picture with coloured pencils, crayons, paint, felt tips – whatever you choose. The picture should be of whatever wonder you would like to see in the world, for example, the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis) in Finland or the Victoria Falls in Africa. You name it, it’s your choice, and you have the wonders of the whole world to choose from!
Underneath your picture we would like you to write two lines beginning:
“I’d like to be able to fly on a magic carpet to see ____”, put in your choice and tell us why.
Think hard and create your picture, then write your two sentences and email the picture with your two sentences to us.
