SF Said performance

We had a lovely time in Peterborough with writer SF Said. The theatre was packed with lots of year 5 and 6 children from the local area, and they listened attentively as SF talked about how he came to write stories and become the best-selling author he is today. The children were keen to share which books they loved to read and asked lots of interesting questions.

One of the biggest take-aways was that we must never give up, and that draft after draft is needed to make a story the best it can possibly be! SF was an inspirational force to his young audience. Everyone went home excitedly clutching their very own copy of Tyger.

This feedback from a headteacher sums it up:

"I just wanted to say a huge thank you for organising yesterday, the children (and staff) had a fantastic morning and then the session in the afternoon really topped it off. I read the Tyger chapters on Friday to our year 6 class and they were silent, you could have heard a pin drop! They have all been reading the copy they were given today, using every spare moment. We have also had Parents Evening tonight and the closing comment from one parent was how her child, who has never been a reader and does struggle academically, has not put the book down for the last 24 hours! He is so excited to read it and was thrilled to tell her he has reached chapter 5 - he is now urging her to read it after him! Please could you pass this onto S.F Said and thank him for igniting this passion in him. His parents, and we as his teachers, are thrilled."
