Al Rodin performance

How did it go?

How lucky were we to kick start our Autumn 2024 programme with the wonderful Al Rodin at The Stables? Al gave a captivating performance that included stories, and lots of live painting - including a first for us at the Children's Bookshow... having a hairdryer on stage! Al showed the children how sometimes an illustrator needs to dry the paint quickly and that's when he uses a hairdryer. He described all his materials as he used them and wowed his audience with his beautiful painting. The children all went home very happy with their free copies of An Adventure for Lia and Lion.

Al Rodin workshop

Al Rodin ran 4 lovely workshops in schools in the Wavendon area - there was lots of collage activities, as well as a drawalong. Al even signed the children's books.

It has richly textured pictures, with layered brushstrokes of meadow and thunderstorm, and animals conjured in a few fine lines.
