Come and work with The Children's Bookshow team!

Sian Williams, Kate Arafa, Jo Baum and Liz Neville - part of the Children's Bookshow team

Home-based Event Administrator

We are looking for a part time, home-working event administrator (with access to their own computer, and phone) to ensure the smooth running of our annual tour and related activities. The successful applicant needs to be an excellent communicator, proactive, self-motivated, diligent, organised and have excellent attention to detail: you will be at the very centre of our charity, ‘mission control’ for a fantastic team who all work from home in different parts of the country!

You will be responsible for organising travel and accommodation for our 2024 autumn tour, writing detailed schedules for artists and accompanying staff, managing a project budget and general admin. There will be the opportunity for occasional travel to experience some of our author events. Some of the work can be done within the school day and during term-time, but much of it involves working during the summer holidays. The majority of the work will take place between June and November.

Applicants must be eligible to work in the UK, willing to work flexibly, available to attend weekly online meetings and have the following essential skills:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • High proficiency in Mailchimp and Google Workspace (Google Docs, Maps and Sheets in particular)
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to work fast and to deadline
  • Strong financial management skills, working to a tight budget
  • Attention to detail and excellent organisation.

An interest in children’s books and reading would be an advantage.

The Children's Bookshow is committed to creating a workforce that is representative of our society. We encourage applications from all sections of the community and are particularly keen to hear from those from Black and Asian backgrounds and disabled candidates.

To apply, please send an up-to-date CV and cover letter (each a maximum of 2 sides of A4) by email to team@thechildrensbookshow.com

Deadline for submitting applications: 31st March
Interviews online: week commencing 22nd April

Decision by Monday 29th April

Part-time position 30 days @ £150 per day. Mostly between June and November.
