Workshop with Jo Empson

Jo Empson

A schools workshop giving children an insight into all the steps that go into creating a picture book: ideas, showing sketchbooks, small mock-up books for each of the stages and talking about the marriage between words and pictures.

Jo will then talk to the children about her two latest picture books 'Little Home Bird' and her rhyming book 'Chimpanzees for Tea!' Finishing off with a hands-on creative activity where children will create their own flying 'Little Bird' characters. Collating all the children's colourful birds at the end of the workshop to create a migrating bird swarm/flock display flying across their classroom wall.
